At an event, HAPA announced construction of its new $30 million high school addition, which is planned to open in fall 2021. Founder and Executive Director Chris Her-Xiong called the new building a tribute, in part, to “the determination of parents and grandparents who desire a better life for their children” and their belief that “education would make that possible.”

Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett lauded Mrs. Her-Xiong at the announcement event, calling  her a “phenomenal change agent and leader for this community,” and sharing his enthusiasm for the project. “It is so spectacular,” said Mayor Barrett. “It is such a commitment to the young people.
